Hi, I’m Seth Smith — a designer based in Lemon Grove, California, passionate about creating spaces that function seamlessly for the people who live, work, and connect in them. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the NewSchool of Architecture + Design in downtown San Diego, with a degree focus in urban planning. I strive to design spaces where families and communities in San Diego County can thrive.

For the past eleven years, I’ve worked on a wide range of projects throughout San Diego County, including custom homes, multi-family residences, commercial buildings, and mixed-use developments. My work covers every stage of the design process, from early design concepts and 3D modeling to preparing construction documents, managing projects, and guiding them through the permitting process. I take pride in helping my clients’ ideas become reality, from the first sketch to the finished structure.
Design Experience in San Diego County
My service in local government began while I was in college, during my internship with the City of Lemon Grove. There, I helped review and write municipal code and created resources for city staff. That experience led me to serve as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Lemon Grove, a position I’ve held for seven years, including the last three as Chairperson. In this role, I’ve helped shape ordinances and planning policies, reviewed appeals, and decided on conditional and minor use permits to the betterment of my community.
Local Government Leadership
Outside of design, I stay active in local organizations. I’m involved with the Busy Bee Garden Co-Op, which plants native pollinator gardens for residents at no cost. I participate with “The Neighborhood”, a local meeting space that hosts free community events and weekly trash pickups. In the past, I’ve volunteered as a youth archery instructor, summer camp counselor, and soccer referee. Each experience reminds me of the value of connection and service.
Community Involvement in Lemon Grove & Beyond
I advocate for sustainable building practices and materials to create environments that are responsible, enduring, and supportive of future generations. I bring creativity, care, and a deep understanding of how design influences daily life to every project. My goal is to create spaces that feel purposeful, connected, and truly part of the San Diego communities they serve.
